Lump In My Throat

The word nostalgia stems from a Greek compound consisting of νόστος (nóstos), meaning "homecoming", a Homeric word, and ἄλγος (álgos), meaning "pain" or “ache”. I am no stranger to Indulging myself in the extremities of nostalgia, yearning for a past that can never be relived again. For the hypercinema final project, I decided to explore deeper into this sense of displacement and unease and perhaps relieve its pain-inducing elements through the creative process.

Our ‘Nostalgic Bone’ tends to react more acutely with smell and touch, as the processing of these stimuli is the first ones passing through the amygdala (The emotional seat of the brain). As such, I decided to make a physical installation along with projection mapping to provide a spatial influence to its viewers.
